Day 1 – Fiji Arrival and Transfer to Octopus Resort

Day_1 (1 of 16)

Our 11.5 hour flight from LAX to Nadi, Fiji, landed this morning at 7:30 AM.

Our first view of some of the 333 islands that make up Fiji as a whole from our completely full Fiji Air 380-200 was well worth the red eye flight.  Gorgeous!

Our 27 nmi trip on a small pontoon 16-passenger “resort boat” began at the Vuda Marina.

A small farmers market at the marina catered to tourists leaving for various resort destinations.Day_1 (4 of 16)

Looking out over the marina, Pete, was glad to be standing after all the airplane/bus riding…

Our landing craft full of Octopus Resort bound (mostly Austrailian) travelers.

Day_1 (7 of 16)

By now Jill is really looking forward to getting on solid ground. Pete looks as if he will sunburn the top of his head if he doesn’t get a hat soon.

Day_1 (8 of 16)

As we get closer to the shore, the beautiful coral reef becomes visible just off shore from our resort. Snorkeling should be outstanding.

Day_1 (14 of 16)

All landings at Octopus are wet. This can be an issue if you forgot to remove your shoes….

Day_1 (15 of 16)

All visitors are welcomed with the traditional Fiji greeting “bula bula” and some local music.

Day_1 (9 of 16)

The sand trail and bridge to our lodging, Point Bure #2.

Day_1 (11 of 16)

Our Beach Front Bure has a large, comfy deck..

Day_1 (12 of 16)

and hammock too…

Day_1 (10 of 16)

Our ocean view for the next three days.. Wish you all could be here!

For those interested in the time differential.. The best way to think of it is we are five hours behind LA and one day ahead.  If it is 7AM on Saturday in Fiji, it is 11AM on Friday in LA…
