We drove all morning through mountainous terrain to access the Coromandel Peninsula from Auckland, but the destination was well worth the journey.

Our two night stay was in a spacious townhouse on a secluded stretch of Haihei Beach.
We stayed in Villa #1, which was fit for a king. Here is the view from our porch.

The path to the beach and a look back at our villa
This area has a reputation of being a hippie hangout. We ate at a restaurant, the Colensco Cafe, that reminded us of Nepenthe–very whole earth.
Gorgeous setting in a forested canyon
It’s fall, so gourds are a plenty. Pete in Colensco’s gift shop.
We selected this place to do some serous hiking, but the grounds around the villa were so beautiful that we decided to hit the nearest large market (about a 20 minute drive in the mountains) and enjoy the resort. We cooked our meals here for the next couple of days. In the living room Pete checked his email as he sipped NZ wine and nibbled on apples, cheese & baguette.
We loaded up on local produce, broccoli and zucchini (called courgettes here).
A time lapse clip of the sunrise from our bedroom the next morning. We hit the ground running this morning in order to make the most out of our time here.

What a place, sooooo beautiful. You both look so relaxed, wished we all could be there as well.

So lovely! Looks like a place where Harry and I could dig in for a week or two. Your videos are really spectacular. Enjoy.
