To begin our road trip we flew into Boise and picked up our rented car. We spent the next day exploring the area around Boise and met a friend of Pete’s from San Pedro and his wife for lunch. After a wonderful and long overdue visit we headed south to Ketchum (Sun Valley).

Ketchum, Idaho, the longtime home of Ernest Hemingway, is half frontier town and half resort destination, joined at the hip to the posh but still rugged Sun Valley ski resort, America’s very first destination ski resort and home of the world’s first chairlifts.
