The last time Pete visited Yellowstone was in the summer of 1961 with my mother and brother. This was Jill’s first trip here. We were both impressed by its sheer expanse, over 2 million acres, and the vast amount and variety of geothermal activity. Having visited Iceland’s Golden Circle and New Zealand’s Rotorua, we thought we had seen it all, but we were wrong. Yellowstone is unique in the world. It was truly hard to imagine a Calderon 45 miles wide. Yellowstone’s hot spot has more geothermal features than the features of all the other hotspots in the world combined.
