We arrived at the east entrance of Glacier National Park only to find that the Going-to-the-Sun Road was impassable due to late spring snow. Drivers are not be able to traverse from the east entrance to the west entrance until June 23. We could only go into the park 15 miles on both the east and west sides. We still managed to hike a few beautiful trails. We stayed at the old Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier, Montana, on opening day.

The park's famous Red Buses have served to provide tours of the park since the 1930s.
Glacier Park Lodge was built in the early 1920's . We stayed in one of the original rooms. We both immediately thought of Kubrick's "The Shining" when we stepped into our room. REDRUM!
