Our good friend, Mike B., gifted us with a night at the Grand Canyon Lodge to commemorate our retirement. We stayed in one of the two western log cabins (#301) that feature a spectacular view of the canyon rim from a private porch. We had dinner and breakfast at the lodge’s onsite restaurant which serves wonderful food with a view of the canyon. The lodge was built in 1928 and has the look and feel of the old west. The atmosphere at the North Rim is quite different from that of the South Rim. The elevation is 8800′ with a very alpine feeling.
We only stayed one night but were able to enjoy both a sunset and sunrise. There are many hiking trails within easy reach of the lodge. Information about the park and lodge can be found at: http://grandcanyonlodgenorth.com/north-rim/
The 6 minute video below is representative of the North Rim in July.
If you haven’t visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona, it is an experience not to be missed.

Great video, inspiring scenery. You guys must have had a great time and the weather looks fantastic.
Regards Cheryl & Alan
Alan, perhaps you will put the Grand Canyon on your visit list when you and Cheryl come to visit!
Thank you for this wonderful video and the perfect musical composition to engage the sense of sound. The sound of crickets, the sound of silence, and the cry of a hawk were some of the sounds we heard just sitting on the porch at “Club 301”.
Thanks Mike the wonderful gift. We will definitely visit the canyon again in the future.
