2016 Fall Color Road Trip, Canada, New Brunswick

Edmundston

Welcome to Nouveau-Brunswick!  We were told by people in Montreal that Quebec City is much colder than Montreal.  It wasn’t.  We were told by people in Quebec City that New Brunswick would be even colder.  It wasn’t.  The temperature has been consistently in the high 60’s with clear skies.

Our 3.5 hour drive to Edmundson was a beautiful one as we rode in a long corridor of evergreen and deciduous trees turning vivid fall colors. Edmundson, a purely Francophone small town, is not a tourist stop. It was only going to be an overnight rest stop for us; but when we arrived, we were told how lucky we were because its 3-day fall festival, “Le Monde de Botania,” just began.  We had the golden opportunity to see a slice of Acadian life that most tourists miss, so we will share it with all of you.

What a fantastic homage to fall – with goblins, serpents, and incredible creativity – all in a town of approx. 16,000. You are charmed in that you have brought California weather to the area. The stars are definitely aligned for you on your travels. The children in the video were so enthralled and excited. I am sure hot chocolate was involved! All of this just about 5 miles from the U.S. border at Maine. Thank you for the wonderment and joy…….

Beautiful photos. Looks like Canada has also subscribed to the ridiculous pseudo tradition of Halloween over-consumption.

Loved loved loved Alex Baldwin as the “moron”. What a hoot.

On our way to Knoxville today.

Oh, what a lovely spot this Edmundson is! The trees especially are beautiful. I’m not enamored by all the Halloween nonsense; we’ve got enough
in CA to make me crazy, and you know what happens November lst: Christmas decorations appear. Enjoy the beauty around you.

    Hugs,

    Flea

Thanks for early birthday card/reminder. YUCK!

. . . and to think that a lot of these folks got exiled down to Louisiana years ago! It must have been quite a change of climate shock!
