Quebec City is a walled town that truly encapsulates old world charm. We stayed in picturesque Old Town, which is divided into half: Upper Town (Haute Ville) and Lower Town (Basse Ville). It is a city of stairways and endless steps. Our flaccid thighs and calves really got a workout. Old Town can be scaled by foot in a day if you are highly organized. We started at the top and worked our way down in the afternoon, only to climb back up again at sunset.
On the top of the town, we could see the wall, this one not built by Trump to keep the Mexicans away, but initially by the French to defend against the English and later by the English to ward off an invasion by the Americans, which never came. How ironic.

Haute Ville: How about that satisfied look by the Road Warrior clutching his first cup of coffee (2 of 16)? RE: The outstanding weather: Have you thought about buying a few lottery tickets? I have given Rick Steves a heads up that he should start immediately start negotiations on his golden parachute. Let’s see: Should I read the Times about the latest Trump tweets, or look at your incredibly wonderful photos of one of my favorite cities in the world? It’s no contest – although there is a nice supplement about Austin in the paper today (which I will keep for you).
I am forwarding your wanderings to Ron Magneson – as I am sure he will appreciate them. Finally – if you are going to keep climbing stair on this trip: Should I send you some application to the annual “Quads of Steel” contest?
Carpe Stairs!
We like the walls and salute.
I especially liked the Basse Ville, so inviting and such a charming area to visit. Did you buy anything to commemorate your trip? Even the food looked yummy.
It looks as if you’re enjoying your trip.

Haven’t had time to shop. Would have loved to have lunch with you in one of these charming cafes.
Hi you two, as usual you both take such wonderful pictures. Marv and I loved Quebec . It’s great how back there everyone will decorate for fall. Have a safe and wonderful time. Love and Hugs, Nina and Marv
Thanks, Nina. Wish you two were here.
With my ankle, it looks like I may have to avoid Quebec City. Too bad. It looks wonderful.
We went to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina today. It certainly rivals the castles we have seen in Europe. A must see if you are in the vicinity.
Funiculars provide an alternative to the stairs, but some were closed. Glad you are having a great trip, too,
What’s with the rowboats floating in the sky?
