Our Eastern European river cruise ended in Bucharest, Romania. From there we made our way to Barcelona Spain. The flight on Romanian Airways was an experience in itself. In Barcelona we stayed at a small boutique hotel near the famous La Ramblas Boulevard. From the hotel we were able to easily explore much of this great city by walking. The weather is gorgeous and there was a feeling of festivity in the air. From the 20th to the 24th of September Barcelona celebrated La Mercè 2019, the festival of festivals in Barcelona. It is in honor of one of the patron-saints of the city: our Lady of the Mercy. Though we hadn’t planned it, we were able to experience some of the best Catalan traditions on display during the festival.
