A major storm hit during the night. In pelting rain we drove the next day to Queenstown, the center of extreme sports such as zip lining, bungee jumping, canyon swinging, luging & skydiving.
Rain has its own kind of beauty.

Descending into Queenstown
The sun broke through the clouds for a spell.
In the winter Queenstown accommodates skiers. The town looks like a Colorado ski resort, much like Aspen. We stayed in the uber-modern Rees Hotel.
A seven story resort hotel, every room sports a view of the lake.

View of the mountain range, the Remarkables, where the ski lifts are located. The name sounds like the title of a Pixar film.

Too tired to do much else, we unloaded our photos & footage and did some blogging.
Unfortunately, it poured during the remainder of our time in Queenstown. Dang it, no bungee jumping or skydiving for us. LOL.
Thank you, Mary Lou, for suggesting we dine at Botswana Butchery. Our Aussie fellow glacier climbers, Alan & Cheryl, and we ate dinner here. The guys shared the gigantic, slow-roasted lamb shoulder. Both of them echoed your words, a meal “to die for.” I ordered the lobster risotto, and Cheryl, the lamb pasta. We were seated next to a cozy fireplace, a nice addition on this rainy evening.

Safe flight home.
So excited you enjoyed Botswana Butchery as much ad we did. Wish you had better weather coming over Haast Pass. That must have been scary!
My favorite bra on the “hanger fence” is the turquoise one on the left side.
Cheers.
